Mavericks Beach, Half Moon Bay, CA

Mavericks Beach in Northern California is a rare and famous surf break for Big Wave Surfers. With waves ranging from 30-50 feet and with it only breaking a few times a year, it takes a rare person to paddle out into Mavericks. I found myself in Half Moon Bay in the Fall, documenting a few of the surfers who braved Mavericks while it was “firing”.

I spent the afternoon taking portraits and watching this incredible feat of nature.
